Research on phubbing suggests that the negative attitude many people have toward this behavior is justified. Reason Phubbing Keeps Happening

Recognizing that we have this <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/intl/basics/bias">bias</a> may help us avoid it. Research suggests that making yourself more aware of this bias and considering how it may be operating when you're using your phone can help you to see how your phone use may be negatively affecting others. And since you're likely to view your own phone use more positively than the other person does, this is a reminder to think about how you may be perceived by the other person before you pull out your phone.

At the 1968 Olympic Games, Dick Fosbury jumped over the high bar backwards. Until then, every Olympic high jump athlete had gone over forward. However, within eight years, 90% of high jumpers were going over the bar backwards, and today, every high jumper uses the "Fosbury Flop." The biggest leaps forward for athletes are discovering an idea or concept that changes the game itself. This means not using the same patterns as everyone else.

Make a list of all the initiatives you are using or considering. Then ask if you are successful, what impact will it have on your objectives? Direct your energy to other activities.</li><li>Tactics: Easy to execute, but not very impactful. Do these, but don't make them a priority.</li><li>Winning moves: Easy to execute and very impactful. Direct your attention to these.</li><li>Crazy ideas: Wild ideas that might look crazy to others and are difficult to execute. Spend some time considering if these are feasible.</li></ul>

Identify and enhance your strengths

Olympic swimmers always swam to the wall, grab hold, and kick off to turn. In the 1936 Olympics, sixteen-year-old Vande Weghe developed an advantage by introducing a flip-turn, a smooth flip underwater to maintain momentum. He held the advantage for about a year until others started copying his method. Expertise and conventional rules can hold us back by repeating what has worked in the past. Instead, approach your initiatives with a beginner's mind. Imagine you are approaching it for the first time, then find unique solutions.

The best athletes and coaches use technological advancements to gain an edge. For example, new spikes on cleats help sprinters to run faster. But the immediate performance gain is just the first step. Technology also opens the door to revise commonly-held approaches on how something is done. When we go to the gym feeling super pumped and excited to work out, it's tempting to go on a full-throttle fitness kick, but doing so is counterproductive. It's not realistic and you probably won't be able to keep up after that session or two.

Don't Overdo It

If you dislike running or find weight lifting boring, then don't do it. Doing something you don't find personally enjoyable won't help you get back into anything.
Find something you like and start there. It will also help build your confidence and this goes hand in hand with motivation.

To escape the Western diet and the ideology of nutritionism, we have only to stop eating and thinking that way.

<li>The surest way to escape the Western diet is simply to depart the realms it rules: the supermarket, the convenience store, and the fast-food outlet.</li>

Getting Over Nutritionism

<li>Don’t eat anything your great grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food</li>

The excessive consumption of sugar is linked to an increased risk of poor health outcomes such as:

<li>type 2 diabetes; </li>

Your body is never without sugar. Even on the days, you don't "eat" sugar, your body still produces sugar, only in a different complex form.
